Alassane Ouattara, Ivory Coast’s President, has won a second five-year term with nearly 84% of the votes, electoral commission officials say.

Although, his previous victory was rejected by the incumbent, Laurent Gbagbo. The rejection sparked a civil war, which killed 3,000 people. Mr Pascal Affi N’Guessan who was Mr Ouattara’s closest challenger got 9%. He is an ally of Mr Gbagbo, who faces trial at the International Criminal Court. Several candidates withdrew from the poll, saying it was not free and fair.
