Investigators have recovered the cockpit voice recorder from the Air India Dreamliner that crashed near Ahmedabad, Gujarat, last week, killing 271 people. The aircraft, en route to London, went down shortly after takeoff.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “This is a critical step in understanding what went wrong. We owe it to the victims and their families to find answers.” One survivor, 28-year-old Anjali Mehta, told reporters, “I don’t know how I made it out.
