Alleged N5.5m Theft: Man Remanded in Prison

A Lagos State Chief Magistrates Court sitting Ikeja, presided over by Magistrate (Mrs) Y.O Aje-Afunwa, has remanded one Onah Joseph in prison custody for fact and sentence over alleged stealing to the tune of N5.5 million worth of Toyota Hilux Jeep with registration number CZ 780APP belonging to one Hezekiah.

Joseph was further alleged to have impersonated himself to be a naval officer, knowing full well that he is not a naval officer. The defendant was stated to have committed the offence on September 7, 2015 at 30 Akinwunmi Street, Alapomeji, Yaba Lagos. In addressing the court, the prosecutor, ASP Samson Ekikere informed the Magistrate that the offence committed is punishable under Section 285,409 and 378(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011. The defendant pleaded guilty to the four-count charge of conspiracy and stealing preferred against him by the police.
