The Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Saturday nullified the election of the state governor, Nyesom Wike.

The tribunal consequently ordered a rerun within 90 days. It would be recalled that the tribunal had fixed today (Saturday) to deliver judgment in the suit initiated by the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside its candidate, Dr Dakuku Peterside in the April 11, 2015 election. Specifically, Peterside questioned the election of the sacked governor who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Wike as winner of the election with 1,029,102 votes as against Peterside’s 124,896.
