Manchester City’s hopes of closing the gap on league leaders Arsenal were dented after Chelsea battled to a 1-1 draw, courtesy of a stoppage-time strike from Enzo Fernández.

City looked on course for victory after Tijjani Reijnders opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, finishing off a slick move to put Pep Guardiola’s side ahead. But Chelsea, playing under interim management following the sudden departure of Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day, showed resilience and stunned the home crowd with Fernández’s 90+4’ equaliser.
