Nigeria’s development sector is beaming brightly as practitioners prepare to meet, engage, share ideas and deepen perspectives on global issues at the forthcoming Development Dialogue holding 9 a.m. on Thursday, 26th November 2015 in Lagos.

  Nigeria’s development sector will gather for the Development Dialogue at 9 a.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2015, in Lagos. Practitioners will meet, exchange ideas, and sharpen perspectives on global issues.   This year’s theme, “Spurring Africa’s Development by Social Innovation and Leadership,” brings together thought leaders, innovators, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to grow capacity for social change in Africa.   The summit will host over 500 practitioners from sectors like agriculture, education, healthcare, media, arts, economic empowerment, housing, environment, and gender advocacy.   Building on the success of its May 2015 pilot, the Dialogue will spark discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals, principled leadership, and collaboration for social good.   Debola Deji-Kurunmi, Executive Director of Ideation Hub Africa, expressed excitement: “Nigeria’s development space is huge. This Summit creates the platform we need to explore Africa’s prosperity through the third sector.”   Dr. Ousman Dore, Country Director of the African Development Bank in Nigeria, will deliver the keynote speech on “Spurring Africa’s Development by Social Innovation and Leadership.” He will represent Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, AfDB President.   The event also features two short seminars. Ndidi Nwuneli, Founder of LEAP Africa and Co-founder of AACE Foods, will speak on “How Social Innovation Emerges and Thrives.” Mr. Akin Fatunke, Public and Government Relations Manager at Exxon Mobil, will discuss “The Critical Role of Corporate Social Investment for Africa’s Development.”   Panel sessions will focus on “Toolkit for Social Innovation” and “Cross-Sector Collaboration for Development.” Panelists include Mosun Layode (WIMBIZ), Chude Jideonwo (Red Media Africa), Bekeme Masade (CSR-in-Action), Seyi Oyebisi (NNNGO), Dayo Oluwole (Kasher Consulting), Akin Olukiran (Institute of Voluntary Sector Management), Dele Osunmakinde (Enterprising Nigeria), and Iyinoluwa Aboyeji (Andela).   Organizers will compile the outcomes into a Post-Dialogue Review highlighting trends, insights, and recommendations for institutions and development actors.   Partners include Crans Montana Forum, Future Project Africa, HACEY Health Initiative, Institute of Voluntary Sector Management, NNNGO, and CSR-in-Action.
