An earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan late Sunday night, killing at least 812 people and injuring more than 2,800. The quake, which hit at 11:47 p.m. local time, was centered near Jalalabad in Nangarhar province, close to the border with Pakistan. Entire villages in Kunar province, including Nurgal and Chawkay districts, were flattened as mudbrick homes collapsed under the force of the tremor. Landslides and flooding triggered by the quake further complicated rescue efforts, leaving many remote areas inaccessible. Also Read: Manchester United Host Arsenal as Liverpool Launch Season Opener
