The death toll from the flash floods across central Texas has climbed to 78, with officials warning that the number may rise as search and rescue operations continue.

Most of the fatalities occurred in Kerr County, where 68 people, including 28 children, lost their lives after the Guadalupe River burst its banks following torrential rains on July 4th. Among the hardest-hit locations was Camp Mystic, a historic Christian girls’ summer camp, where 27 campers and counsellors perished.
