Forget About Re-run, Wike Tells Peterside

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has warned APC’s 2015 governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, to stop dreaming of winning a rerun in the state.

Speaking through his media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu, on Tuesday, Wike said his lawyers were finalizing the appeal against the Justice Suleiman Ambrosa-led tribunal ruling. He stressed he was not waiting for any rerun.   Nwakaudu noted that the Court of Appeal had already struck out the tribunal’s reliance on card reader accreditation and hearsay evidence.   “The defeated APC candidate, Dakuku Peterside, should stop deceiving himself and campaigning for a rerun that will never happen,” Nwakaudu said.   He accused Peterside of working for “external forces” seeking to control Rivers State resources, as they allegedly did under former governor Rotimi Amaechi.   “The people of Rivers State voted massively for Wike on April 11 and 12. Peterside must accept this reality,” he added.   Nwakaudu said propaganda would not take Peterside to Government House, Port Harcourt, insisting Wike’s mandate would stand.   “Governor Wike will serve his first term until May 28, 2019, as endorsed by Rivers people and reaffirmed by the courts,” he declared.
