Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed how he was evacuated from Guinea-Bissau during political unrest, crediting swift intervention by West African leaders for ensuring his safe return to Nigeria.

Jonathan, who was in the country leading the West African Elders Forum Election Observation Mission, was caught in the middle of a military coup.  In a recent interview, Jonathan said he felt compelled to publicly acknowledge the overwhelming support and prayers he received, expressing gratitude to Nigerians for standing by him during the crisis.
