Just one day after reopening the Seine River for public swimming for the first time in over a century, French officials have shut it down again due to high pollution levels caused by heavy rainfall.

François Fournier, resident who lives near the river, told AP News “I won’t risk it quite frankly, I’ve seen things you can’t imagine floating in the Seine, so I’ll wait for it to be really squeaky clean.” Also Read: China and Egypt Strengthen Ties
