South Korea’s former First Lady, Kim Jung-sook, has been formally indicted on charges of bribery and abuse of power in the country’s ongoing battle against political corruption. The trial, which began this week in Seoul Central District Court, centers on allegations that Kim accepted illicit funds from business executives in exchange for political favors during her husband Moon Jae-in’s presidency (2017–2022).
