A passenger train derailed in central Mexico on Sunday, killing at least 13 people and injuring 98 others, according to local authorities.

The accident occurred near the town of San Pedro in Hidalgo state, when several carriages of the train left the tracks and overturned. Emergency services rushed to the scene, pulling survivors from the wreckage and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. Officials said the train was carrying more than 300 passengers at the time of the derailment. Preliminary investigations suggest that a mechanical failure combined with poor track conditions may have contributed to the tragedy.
