U.S. President Donald Trump departed Washington, D.C. on Friday morning en route to Alaska for a face-to-face summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The meeting, held at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, marks Putin’s first visit to U.S. soil since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Trump has described the meeting as “high stakes,” and hopes it will pave the way for a second summit involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “I’m not here to negotiate for Ukraine,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. “I’m here to get them at a table. I think they’ll make a proper decision”. Also Read: Brazil’s Supreme Court Places Ex-President Jair Bolsonaro Under House Arrest
