By Reporter 5

US President Donald Trump has signed a bill ending the longest government shutdown in US history, which lasted 43 days.

The shutdown, which began on October 1, 2025, had disrupted food assistance, delayed paychecks for hundreds of thousands of federal workers, and crippled the air-traffic control system. The House of Representatives passed the funding bill with a vote of 222-209, largely along party lines, with Trump’s support keeping his party together despite opposition from House Democrats.
