US President Donald Trump has threatened to sue the BBC for $1 billion over an “error of judgement” in editing a 2021 speech, which he claims caused him “overwhelming reputational and financial harm”. The BBC has admitted to the mistake and apologized, saying it will review the matter.

The BBC documentary, aired in October 2024, appeared to show Trump urging supporters to “fight like hell” before the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
