The U.S. State Department has revoked more than 6,000 international student visas since January, citing violations of American laws, overstays, and alleged links to terrorism. Approximately 4,000 of the revoked visas were tied to criminal offenses such as assault, driving under the influence, and burglary. An additional 200 to 300 visas were cancelled under Section 3B of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which broadly defines “terrorist activity” as acts that endanger human life or violate U.S. law.
