UN Raises Concerns Over Sexual Violence in Sudan Conflict

The United Nations has expressed serious concern about the use of sexual violence in Sudan’s civil conflict, particularly implicating the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). A recent report by the UN Fact-Finding Mission states there are “reasonable grounds to believe” such acts may represent violations of international law.

“We are deeply troubled by the scale and nature of these reports,” said Mohamed Chande Othman, Chair of the Mission. Aid workers have relayed accounts from survivors in Gedaref State, including Khadija, a local midwife, who shared: “No one feels safe.
