US Appeals Court Rules Trump’s Tariffs Illegal

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has ruled that most of former President Donald Trump’s global tariffs were “invalid as contrary to law”, declaring them unconstitutional under existing federal statutes. The 7–4 ruling, issued Friday, targets Trump’s use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs on dozens of countries, including China, Mexico, Canada, and members of the European Union. The court concluded that while the IEEPA allows the president to regulate imports during national emergencies, it does not grant unilateral power to impose tariffs, which the court affirmed as a “core Congressional power.” Also Read: Manchester United Host Arsenal as Liverpool Launch Season Opener
