The  National Assembley  proposal to grant immunity to top officials, including the Senate President and Speaker, has sparked outrage. This move seems like a revenge tactic, especially with Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki facing trial for false assets declaration.

  Granting immunity would undermine President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption efforts and contradict the United Nations Convention against Corruption. It’s a double standard for lawmakers to regulate others while exempting themselves.   The National Assembly should prioritize victims of corruption and promote accountability instead of shielding themselves.
