Dr. Frederic Pechier, a 53-year-old French anesthetist, has gone on trial for allegedly poisoning 30 patients, resulting in 12 deaths, at two clinics in Besancon, eastern France.

The trial, which began on September 8, 2025, and is expected to last until December, centers around Pechier’s alleged intentional actions to induce cardiac arrests in patients between 2008 and 2017. The investigation, which lasted eight years, examined over 70 reports of serious adverse events and stunned the medical community. If convicted, Pechier faces life imprisonment. Currently, he is under judicial supervision and has been banned from practicing medicine since 2017. Also Read: Manchester United Host Arsenal as Liverpool Launch Season Opener
