Millions Face Disruption as London Underground Workers Launch Week-Long Strike

By Marie

Commuters across London are bracing for a week of chaos as thousands of Underground train workers began a coordinated strike on Monday, bringing much of the city’s transport network to a grinding halt. The industrial action, led by the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union, involves fleet staff, engineers, station workers, and train operators. It marks the first major Tube strike under Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government and comes after months of failed negotiations over pay, working hours, and staffing conditions. Transport for London (TfL) warned that there would be “little to no service” across the Tube network from Monday through Thursday, with additional disruptions expected on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) on Tuesday and Thursday.
